Wonderful - July 2014
The Hotel de France et de Guise is a grand, old building in the center of the gorgeous, old town of Blois. A very personable, lovely lady assisted us with our check-in. The rooms were beautifully furnished, super clean and comfortable, as were the bathrooms. Free, well functioning WiFi was offered. The location was amazing, just steps away from a great shopping area, the incredible Chateau de Blois, and a variety of restaurants. A continental breakfast was offered for a reasonable charge, and featured fresh croissants and baguettes with all the fixings as well as friendly, prompt service. At check-out I purchased a souvenir magnet and received complimentary postcards of the hotel from the nice gentleman. We felt very welcome and happy at this hotel!
Right downtown in the old city – May 2014
This review is bicycle oriented. We arrived in Bloise from Orleans via Chambord. Met at the door be the charming concierge we were escorted to the secure parking for our bikes. Clean rooms bit the walls were a bit thin. Not uncommon in two star hotels. Breakfast was good. ( it's all about the coffee for me and in France that is always good.)
A short walk to everything interesting including the chateau.
Good value and recommended for bike tourers.
Gorgeous location, fantastic hotel, wonderful town October 2013
I stayed at Hotel France et de Guise in early mid September. My room was located on the top floor at the front of the Hotel and it was extremely spacious. The facilities were excellent although a little dated, however the location and assistance from the staff made up for any minor qualms (a creaky floor). The breakfast was thoroughly filling and the wait staff were extremely polite and accommodating. The hotel concierge recommended an amazing restaurant in Blois "Au Coin d'Table" and the location of the hotel is just a short walk from the train station with views of the Royal Palace and Cathedral. Thank you for making our stay as comfortable as possible!
Very central, friendly environment October 2013
Lovely character hotel, we asked for a room away from the street which was very quiet. We came by train with our bikes, just rolled down the hill and there is was. Nice big garage for bike storage. Staff are really helpful and friendly, we felt very welcome.
“Perfect location” September 2013
We were on the 3rd floor – room 33 overlooking the street as we had requested. Stayed here 2 nights recently. Can be somewhat noisy at night with the window open but we had a good view of the castle and the church in the park across the street. Bed was small but okay. In an older building, nothing fancy but more than adequate for people on vacation. Had breakfast in the hotel both mornings – typical French fare and good. The staff in the breakfast room and front desk were very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend this place.
“Friendly with character” August 2013
We stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the old but charming interior with its different facets. The staff were very friendly and gave us amap and marked the best places to dine. Breakfast was typically French, nice
