The château was built between 1527 and 1537 by Jean le Breton, finance secretary to François I, charged by the king to carry out the conduct and payments for work on Chambord. Villesavin was built by Italian masters and sculptors who built the great royal houses. It is one of the first Châteaux to have been built on a square plan.
Florentine and French craftsmen from Chambord contributed to the refinement of the ornate décor found at Villesavin, especially the high window pediments and the murals of the chapel.
In the courtyard stands a 16th century white marble basin by Carrare. To the left of the building, the large dovecote, with 1500 boxes, still has its original turntable ladder.
The interior is furnished with a refined furniture and a beautiful collection of tin.
In the park, younger kids can enjoy a ghost hunt, with an observation game for older children. There is also a mini farm for toddlers.
